E. Deenadayalan

Dr Mubashir Hasan (Dr Saheb) and Ernest Deenadayalan (Deena), were connected in many admirable ways. The smile and elegance they carried with them, and the way both charmed their way into the hearts of the people they interacted with, influencing every person they came across  with ideological, emotional, and personal characteristics, is an extraordinary human character these two shared. A dream of defying the divide and uniting the people of the subcontinent (or, for that matter, revolutionary masses of the world), brought these two South Asians together into the fold of the Pakistan-India People’s Forum for Peace & Democracy.

Though they belonged to different generations,  Deena always held Dr Saheb in great reverence and admiration. They were comrades in arms, building the Forum brick-by-brick along with other contemporaries. Faith in people’s power to transform the unjust ways of our society encouraged the politician turned peacemaker and the priest turned social activist to join hands in taking the peace movement to new heights in South Asia. While Dr Saheb was the inspirational icon in this effort holding the fort of PIPFPD in Pakistan, Deena was the meticulous organiser and provided the spine for PIPFPD’s activities, delegations, and joint conventions  through facilitated secretariat support for the Forum in India.

PIPFPD is initiating a programme to remember these visionary friends and introduce their work to a newer generation  of  peacemakers. Through the sharing   of contemporaries,  political analysis, and a talk by Sumanta Bannerjee, senior journalist and political analyst, we hope to bring together a remembrance event and a strategising and brainstorming initiative.  Sumanta Bannerjee is also one of the founding members of the Forum and a close co-traveller of DrMubashir and Deena. The gathering will be enriched by sharing about the people’s peace journey by eminent peace & democracy workers from India and Pakistan, as well as a cultural celebration of the lives of these comrades who held music and revolutionary poetry very close to their hearts.

Kindly join us on Sunday,   March 14th, at 5.30 pm ( IST)  or 5:00 pm (PKT) ) in an online celebration. Kindly find below the detailed programme schedule and the poster attached.
